On Twitter, Katie Lea commented on her release from WWE yesterday, writing: "omg you guys! v touched by all the love and support... actually a little bit overwhelmed... thank you!!"
Shannon Moore commented on the recent WWE releases, through his Twitter… It sucks to hear that people lost jobs today. From what I hear that place is a black hole anyway. Alot of peeps are miserable going to work. They dont understand what talent is. They would rather hire a jackass that don't know nothing about the biz rather than someone that loves it and pay pennies on the dollar to get someone to sign their life away. I think that the talent should think about making the jump. I thank god everyday for my chance to be family with TNA. From the office to talent in TNA it's nothing but fun. All I can say is @tnadixie thank you for bringing me into the family. I love going to work. Hogan F'N rocks. I wear TNA colors with pride and will bust my ass to better the company.TNA TNA TNA TNA.
From Chris at Maria-Kanellis.org: I was interviewing Maria, and literally in the middle of it, she *gasped* out loud. She had just read about Mickie's release while she was answering one of my questions. She and Mickie used to be best friends, so she had a few things to say about the release (and Katie's too).
Regarding Mickie James, Maria said, "We were friends, but we kind of grew apart near the end. I don't know what her release revolved around, but I assume it was probably about the same thing that mine was. When you push back sometimes, people just let you go." She added, "I'm happy for her because I think that it's the best time in her life to get released because she does have an album coming out."
Maria, who was released from WWE back in February, says that WWE has a track record of misusing the Divas, especially if they have other projects outside of the WWE Universe (ie. music albums). "When you can't hold someone underneath your thumb anymore, sometimes it's better just to let them go. I'm a very passionate person and I get bored so very easy. If you just make me do one thing all the time and you don't even let me do that one thing properly - they dropped the ball so many times on storylines."
As for Katie Lea Burchill, Maria called her a "tremendous asset" to the Women's division. "It seems to me, for some reason, they seem to fire the wrong person. That's really bad," Maria said. "I cannot believe they fired her."
