MMAC "The Revolution" brings MMA to Washington, D.C.

MMAC: The Revolution, the first legalized mixed martial arts show in Washington DC, is scheduled to take place May 12 at the DC Armory.

In the double main event, Chute Boxe's Nilson de Castro will face UFC and IFL veteran Homer "The Rock" Moore; and Nino "Elvis" Schembri will take on Pride and IFL veteran Amir Rahnavardi.

De Castro is coming off a draw last December against the undefeated Pancrase Neo-Blood Champion Ryo Kawamura.

Moore will be recovering from a knee injury that contributed to his TKO loss to Allan Goes at IFL in Moline earlier this month.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu sensation Schembri is returning to MMA after a year and a half layoff. Schembri lost his last four fights against solid to great opponents in Matt Lindland, Kazuhiro Hamanaka, Kazushi Sakuraba and Ryo Chonan.

Rahnavardi left the IFL in bad terms after suffering a torn labrum in his hip. For this fight Rahnavardi is training his ground game with Eddie Bravo, a world-renowned grappler who has taken Schembri's "rubber guard" to new heights.

The DC Boxing & Wrestling Commission unanimously voted in January to legalize mixed martial arts in Washington DC.

Events regulated by the Commission will follow the Unified Rules of MMA, though bouts will be required to take place inside a ring, as the commission has not yet approved the usage of a cage.
