Commission strips Nick Diaz of win over Takanori Gomi

Nick Diaz has been stripped of his biggest career win for testing positive for marijuana in a urine test prior to his PRIDE 33 fight.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission on Tuesday conducted a disciplinary hearing and decided to suspend Diaz for 6 months, fine him $3,000, and change his win over Takanori Gomi to a no contest.

The suspension can be considered negligible since Diaz is already serving a six-month medical suspension due to a broken orbital bone.

In addition to being an illegal drug in America, marijuana is considered a banned substance by the NSAC because of the drug’s effects on a person’s reflexes and pain tolerance.

The NSAC found reason to believe that Diaz benefited from the usage of marijuana and therefore decided to declare the bout a no contest.
