Bernard Hopkins speaks out on why he is not calling out Joe Calzaghe
Joe Calzaghe has made his intents clear time and time again that he'd love to fight Bernard Hopkins. Recently Hopkins was quoted in the media as to why he is not calling out Calzaghe. Quoted in the South Wales Echo, Hopkins who is considered a legend, feels his status refrains him from calling Calzaghe.
"'I'm not about to say, 'I want him',' says Hopkins. 'Legends don't call out other fighters. I'm not being big-headed. That's just how it is."
Hopkins also stated he is not willing to go to the UK to fight Calzghe either: "And I wouldn't go across the water to fight Calzaghe in any case. If he wants superstardom in America, let him come here," adding: "They got TVs in England. The money's in pay-per-view, anyway."
Hopkins feels Calzaghe is "just another good - not great - European fighter", and expects him to defeat Peter Manfredo who he feels is "tailor-made for Calzaghe."
