WBA poised to strip Diaz!

Golden Boy Promotions yesterday won a purse bid Monday at WBA headquarters in Panama to stage the mandatory title fight between WBA lightweight champion Juan Diaz and Prawet Singwancha of Thailand. Golden Boy bid $160,000 to edge Sampson Lewkowicz, who bid $150,000. However, it is almost a certainty that Diaz will be stripped of the belt as he is lined up to face WBO champion Acelino Freitas on April 28 at Foxwoods. WBA executive Gilberto Jesus Mendoza said if Diaz does not come to an agreement with Golden Boy Promotions within twenty days to fight Singwancha, the title will be vacated.
