Hardcore Legend…WWE Champion…Whore?
By: David Tees
“Mankind: Have A Nice Day, A Tale Of Blood And Sweat Socks”, “Foley Is Good”, “Tietam Brown”, “Scooter”, and now “The Hardcore Diaries.” It seems like every single time that Mick Foley has a new book to pimp out, Mick Foley will make his return to pro wrestling, mainly the WWE. Every time Mick Foley needs to get another book on the best seller list, you can bet your bottom dollar that Mick Foley will parade himself out in front of your TV to push his newest endeavor onto us.
I live about thirty minutes from Atlantic City, New Jersey and besides the casino’s and pawn shops, I always notice one constant on every trip…the prostitutes. The street corners seemed to be littered with prostitutes that will take any horny male/females money just like when Mick Foley will prostitute himself on our TV screens when he wants us to pour money into his most recent literary contraption.
Does Mick Foley look like a decent looking prostitute?
Hell No!!!
Does Mick Foley have the same ideals of a prostitute?
Hell Yes!
Think about it, has any of Mick Foley’s post retirement (Following WWE Wrestlemania 2000) appearances not correlated with some form of new literary material he isn’t pushing on us? That isn’t to say that the books written by Mick Foley aren’t any good as I am currently reading “The Hardcore Diaries”, I just think its pathetic that Mick Foley only appears in WWE storylines when its convenient for Mick Foley to push new merchandise on the fans.
The move for the merchandise pushing appearances is pretty smart from a marketing point of view, but eventually your contingent of fans are going to figure it out and will no longer start falling for the ploys of Mick Foley. I would be willing to bet my collection of 700 plus wrestling video’s/DVD’s that if Mick Foley alienated his loyal following of wrestling fans, neither of his currently released books would ever come near the top of any best seller list.
There is no bigger example of Mick Foley being a major hoar than the March 13th edition of ECW On Sci Fi, when Mick Foley cut a promo hyping his book “The Hardcore Diaries” at the expense of the current feud between the ECW Originals (Rob Van Dam, Sabu, The Sandman & Tommy Dreamer) and The New Breed (Elijah Burke, Kevin Thorne, Matt Striker, Marcus Cor Von & Ariel). Mick Foley blatantly stole the heat from the ECW Originals victory over The New Breed by putting all the attention of himself to pimp out his latest literary creation.
The fall from the Hell In The Cell, the multiple WWE Title victories and Mick Foley’s other pro wrestling achievements will only carry Mick Foley so far before everybody will eventually catch on to his prostituting and turn away from his books the way they are starting to turn on his in ring performances.
